'Sputnik' chandelier, brass, glass, Austria, 1960s

Round like a ball this 'Sputnik' chandelier consists of a center sphere from which many rods with glass spheres at each end are held. The small spheres are made of structured glass and joined by rods with lightbulbs in a cone-shaped shade. The glass absorbs the light very nicely, creating a wonderful elegant light partition. The chandelier has a diameter of 1.2m/47.2 inches which makes this design even more impressive.
